Петербург привлекает тем, что многие обязательные к посещению туристические места можно увидеть без оплаты. Это не только каналы, монументы и более двух тысяч исторических домов, плотно заполняющих центр, но и несколько выдающихся точек, которые можно осмотреть совершенно бесплатно.

Петропавловская крепость
Оплот на Заячьем острове был возведён самим Петром I ещё в 1703 году. На его территории сейчас находятся Монетный двор, Петропавловский собор, где хоронят представителей императорской семьи, а также несколько музеев, посвящённых истории Петербурга и всей страны.
За вход в музеи требуется платить, однако осмотреть сам пункт крепости можно без оплаты. Рекомендуется прийти ближе к полудню, когда с Нарышкиной башни发射炮炮，执行«полуденный выстрел». Эта традиция была введена адмиралом Грейгом, начальником Черноморского флота, в 1819 году: характерный полдень выстрел позволял синхронизировать часы на кораблях, а с 1865 года её принимало и Санкт-Петербург.
Экскурсии от местных жителей в Санкт-Петербурге
Если вы przyбудете чуть раньше, зайдите в единственный песчаный берег в этом районе, расположенный внутри крепостных стен на Заячьем острове. Кoupаться там запрещено, поэтому жители приходят лишь погулять под открытым небом и перекусить у воды, наслаждаясь видом на Эрмитаж.

Вsunny weather it’s pleasant to stroll under tree shade and admire sculptures in Letniy Sad. For three hundred years genuine works of Italian masters from the 17th–18th centuries adorned the park, yet in 2011 they were sent for restoration and substituted with faithful copies. The originals are now stored in the Engineer Castle in St. Petersburg.
Phosphazing through the entire Letniy Sad you will end up by the tiny Cherizka-Pyuzhak monument on Fontanka embankment. It is the smallest monument in the city. Frequently a small crowd gathers nearby, each trying to toss a coin onto a platform so that it stays put and does not fall into the water. Legend says that this little stunt grants a wish.
Near the bronze chick lies one of the most beautiful squares of Petersburg – Marsovo pole. In its center stands the Eternal Flame and a memorial dedicated to the victims of the February Revolution of 1917.

Dvorcova square stands as the main square of the city. During holidays it hosts official concerts and parades. On regular days the usual sight includes carriage processions, a couple of street musicians, and costumed characters depicting Peter and Catherine who eagerly invite visitors to take photos.
In the center rises the Alexander Column, erected in 1834 to commemorate the triumph over Napoleon. It holds the record as the tallest single granite monument worldwide.
Separated from the Neva by the square lies the Hermitage — one of the largest museums on the planet. On the first Thursday of each month its exhibition can be visited free of charge, provided you collect a ticket at the box office before 5 p.m.

Kazan Cathedral functions as the operating cathedral of St. Petersburg, thus entry is free. Inside resides an Orthodox relic – the icon of Kazan Mother of God – and the tomb of Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov, the commander-in-chief of the Russian forces during the 1812 Patriotic War.
Construction of the temple was started by Emperor Paul I, inspired by the idea that the building should resemble St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican; consequently its façade is embellished with a portico of 94 columns.

Opposite the Kazan Cathedral stands the former Singer building, popularly called the «Book House», whose dome is illuminated in changing hues each evening. Within this structure houses the most renowned and largest bookstore of Petersburg, a true haven for book lovers, offering a vast collection of works across all genres and directions. Regular book launches by internationally acclaimed authors and author meet‑ups are also held here. Moreover, the premises accommodate the office of the social network «VKontakte».

It is a family‑run boutique bookshop that opened its doors in 1926. In its early years it earned the status of a cult spot among the city’s intelligentsia, offering subscription services for books and magazines – a possibility that remains today.
Across two floors the shop is packed from floor to ceiling with books, and a cozy café operates there where over a cup of coffee you can leaf through a favourite copy. In addition, the venue showcases author‑crafted stationery and its own line of souvenirs.

St. Petersburg boasts 342 bridges, of which only 13 are movable. Yet the spectacle of their opening has turned an ordinary engineering routine into the city’s premier free‑of‑charge tourist attraction, visible exclusively during the navigation season – roughly from early April to mid‑November.
Bridges are opened to allow large ships to travel up the Neva toward Lake Ladoga. The entire demonstration lasts 8–10 minutes. The most convenient viewing spot is the Palace Embankment, from where one can clearly see the Palace, Troitsky and Bridge of Bridges, while further afield the Blagoveshchensky and Tuchkov bridges rise in the distance.

New Holland is one of the coolest public spaces in Petersburg. Once a small, abandoned island that hosted a naval prison and storages of the Admiralty, it now boasts trendy bars, bookshops, stylish boutiques, versatile leisure spots, and a uniquely shaped children’s playground resembling a giant ship. Additionally, free concerts, lectures and exhibitions are held there on a regular basis.

The park was inaugurated fifteen years ago to mark a long‑awaited anniversary. Situated on the shore of the Baltic Sea near the city’s outskirts, it enjoys greater popularity among locals than among tourists.
Парк открыли 15 лет назад к долгожданному юбилею. Стоит он на берегу Финского залива ближе к окраине города, поэтому более популярен не у туристов, а у местных жителей.
Рядом с парком есть три торговых комплекса. Там можно перекусить и спрятаться от застовшего врасплох дождя.

In the northern part, close to the «Udelnaya» metro station, hides the largest flea market of St. Petersburg. Its assortment ranges from stalls selling royal‑era coins and antique furniture to piles of vintage tools, Soviet toys and military gear. The rows of vendors stretch over two kilometres, and a quick inspection takes about an hour.

Поднимитесь на крышу

Самый простой вариант — посетить оборудованную крышу в лофт‑проекте «Этажи». С неё открывается шикарный вид на город, удобные зоны для отдыха и небольшая сцена, где иногда проходят концерты.
С собой на крышу можно пронести свою еду и напитки, что упрощает организацию пикника на открытом воздухе. Однако вход стоит символическую сто рублей; иногда бесплатный вход возможен после покупки билета на текущую выставку.

Заведение работает по принципу тайм‑кафе — клиент платит за время, проведённое внутри. Оно находится недалеко от метро «Адмиралтейская», имеет небольшую террасу с видом на Невский проспект и предлагает настольные игры, X‑Box, кальян и мини‑кинотеатр.

Кафе расположилось в куполе на крыше старого особняка. Там подают отличный итальянский кофе и изысканные авторские десерты. За крышами виднеется Исаакиевский собор.
