### Bang Tao Beach: A Paradise for a Relaxing Holiday

In the northwest of Phuket, in a picturesque corner, is Bang Tao Beach - a 5-kilometer strip of fine beige sand, which remains uncrowded even at the height of the tourist season. On sunny days, the transparent water takes on a bright turquoise hue, creating an atmosphere of serenity and harmony.

#### Nature and atmosphere

Along the coast you will find casuarina groves that provide abundant shade. These unique trees, also known as aeolian trees, resemble pine trees, but with softer needles and without the pine scent. Their crowns allow the wind to pass through, protecting against hurricanes, making the beach safe for relaxing. On weekends, locals like to picnic in the shade, settling on mats and in hammocks.

#### Tourists and accommodation

You will rarely meet Russian tourists on Bang Tao Beach. This is where guests of luxury hotels and independent travelers looking for a leisurely holiday prefer to relax. Expats from Russia choose more lively and accessible locations in Phuket.

The Bang Tao hotel sector is famous for its luxury. The largest complex is the five-star Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort with golf courses and villas. The lagoon, built up with townhouses and multi-story buildings, is connected to Boat Avenue and Layan Beach by free shuttles that run both on land and along the canals between the lakes.

#### Reviews from vacationers

Visitors note the spaciousness and cleanliness of the beach, the picturesque landscape and the ease of access to the airport. The shallow water makes it safe for children and those who cannot swim, and the entry into the water is gentle. The water is clean, without stones or seaweed. However, the lack of tuk-tuks and the high cost of taxis upset some guests. Many hostels offer free bicycles, and renting a motorbike costs 200-300 baht per day.

#### Weather and climate

Bang Tao is usually calm, with a refreshing breeze keeping things cool. During the monsoon season (May to October), large waves are possible, but storms are rare. In summer, the air temperature reaches +35°C, and in the high season it stays around +28°C.

#### Infrastructure and services

Near the beach you will find 7/11 and Family Mart stores, tour desks, money changers, massage parlors, bars and pharmacies. Vendors offer food, fruit and drinks. Prices for sun loungers under an umbrella range from 200 to 300 baht per day. After sunset, the beach becomes deserted.

The beach offers a variety of water activities, including banana boat rides, water skiing, parasailing and jet ski rentals. Cafes and restaurants offer Thai and European cuisine, but prices may be higher than elsewhere. To save on food, you can buy groceries at Tesco Lotus or ready meals at 7 Eleven.

### Night Markets in Bang Tao

The night markets in Bang Tao are located away from the beach and have different opening hours. The market near Tesco Lotus is open on Monday and Thursday, the market near the police station in Cherngtalay village (Bandon-Cherngtalay Road) is open on Wednesday and Sunday, and the “Muslim” market is open on Tuesday and Friday. Here you can eat a hearty meal for 100-200 baht and do some shopping at the same time, as the stalls offer a variety of souvenirs, cosmetics and bathing accessories.

### Snorkeling and diving

The best place for snorkeling is the rocky cape at the southern end of the beach. Among the coral reefs you will see colorful exotic fish, and on the bottom you can find shellfish and starfish. Bangtao Dive Center offers diving courses for beginners and rental equipment for diving and snorkeling. Bang Tao is ideal for those who prefer a quiet holiday without unnecessary entertainment.

### How to get to Bang Tao

Bang Tao is a 20-minute drive from Patong Beach and 40 minutes from the airport. From Phuket Town, you can get to the beach for 35 baht by songthaew bus - a windowless van with benches. There is no direct bus service between the beaches (except for the route between Kata and Karon), so you first need to get to the city and then change to another route. To get off at the right stop, you need to press the bell button.

Buses with the route "Phuket - Bangtao - Surin - Kamala" depart from the market on Ranong Road. The frequency is unpredictable, and the journey will take about an hour due to frequent stops and heavy traffic. The last bus leaves around 16:00, and you will have to walk 15-20 minutes from the road to the beach.
