Tourists who come to the city of Pattaya in Thailand have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with many world attractions without leaving the city. The park "Mini Siam" offers a unique opportunity to enjoy miniature copies of famous buildings from all over the world.
History of the park's creation
Mini Siam Pattaya was founded in 1986 and covers an area of 4.5 hectares, with over 100 exhibits. All of them are highly detailed and bear a striking resemblance to the originals. Most of the models are made on a scale of 1:225, and only a few, made later, are larger and less detailed.
Initially, some of the models were operational: airplanes moved around the airport, cars drove around some other objects, and trains ran along the railway. However, at present, the condition of these miniatures has worsened: they are covered in rust and a thick layer of dust, which makes them unattractive to visitors.
There are information signs in Thai and English near each exhibit, making the park more accessible to tourists.
Tips from experienced travelers
Experienced tourists recommend visiting the Mini Siam park immediately after arriving in Pattaya, at the very beginning of your vacation. After looking at the miniature models of famous Thai landmarks, you can choose those that you want to see in the original.
All exhibits in the park are divided into two thematic zones: “Mini Siam” and “Mini Europe”.
Exhibition "Mini Europe"
Although this zone is called "Mini Europe", it features miniatures of architectural monuments from all over the world. Among them you can find such world "hits":
Sydney Opera House
Tower Bridge and Big Bank
The Pyramid of Cheops and the Sphinx sculpture
Statue of Liberty in America
Eiffel Tower
German Cathedral
Paris Arc de Triomphe
Roman Colosseum
Leaning Tower of Pisa
Saint Basil's Cathedral in Russia
Of course, this is only a small part of the exhibits presented in the Pattaya park.
Exhibition "Mini Siam"
This area of Mini Siam Park is larger and was built first. The collection is dedicated to ancient and modern outstanding architectural structures of Thailand and neighboring countries of Southeast Asia.
Here you can find many models of Buddhist pagodas, such as Wat Phra Kaeo, Wat Arun from Bangkok and Wat Mahathart from Sukhothai. This site features a replica of the largest religious building on the planet: the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia.
Also here you can see replicas of buildings from two historical parks: in Ayutthaya and from Phanom Rung in Burirum.
This part of the complex features many objects from Bangkok:
Suvarnabhumi Airport
Victory Monument (the oldest copy in Pattaya Park)
King Rama IX Bridge
The Great Royal Palace
Freedom Square
Best time to visit
Recommendations regarding the time of visiting the park take into account such important points as the scorching daytime sun in Pattaya, the “presentation” of architectural monuments at different times of the day and the quality of photographs.
Experienced tourists recommend coming to the excursion 1-2 hours before sunset (at 16:30-17:00). At this time, you will be able to enjoy all the models of the sights both during the day and with illumination.
All exhibits are located outside, without awnings or tall shady trees, so it is very hot there during the day. About 1-2 hours before sunset, the sun is no longer so scorching, and the walk becomes much more pleasant.
Advice! Even if you come to the park during the day, you can protect yourself from the sun: umbrellas are provided at the entrance, which must be returned after the tour.
As darkness falls, the park lights up. The miniatures look completely different than during the day, and most of them become much more attractive: without bright sunlight, damage to the objects becomes invisible. The already luxurious palaces and temples in the Southeast Asian attractions zone are illuminated most effectively.
Closer to the evening, there are almost no visitors in the entertainment complex, since tourist groups are usually brought in during the daytime. This means that you will be able to examine everything without rushing and not wait in line to take a photo.
Walking around Mini Siam in Pattaya, it is simply impossible not to take a photo! Firstly, it is a documentary proof of your stay in Thailand. Secondly, the photos have one interesting feature: if you choose a convenient position, it will be impossible to understand whether you have photographed a real landmark or just a miniature copy. At sunset and with original lighting, the photos turn out especially beautiful.
What else is there on the territory of the entertainment complex?
Mini Siam Park in Pattaya is notable not only for its copies of historical monuments. Its entire territory is a work of landscape art with green lawns and blooming flowerbeds, dwarf trees, fountains, artificial ponds and waterfalls, comfortable benches.
There is a nice playground for children.
The park also has several small cafes with affordable prices.
There are 2 toilets on the territory: near the pedestal with American presidents and behind the cafe at the entrance/exit. However, they are just street toilets, quite dirty.
Note for tourists! When leaving the park, on the right side, there is a market where they sell various plants: flowers, palm seedlings and dwarf trees. In the evening, a food market starts working there, where the local population goes to buy things. On Pattaya maps, this place is marked as "Mini Siam".
